How many Buddy Bands would it take to raise 1,568 dollars? If you said 6,272, then you are correct. The students sold over 6,000 bracelets and rings to raise money for families who have been affected by Leukemia. I am extremely proud of how hard they worked. On the last day of school, we are going to get to present a giant check to a family who has been hit with this terrible disease. What a great way to spend the last day together!

As a competitive male teacher, I take Field Day pretty serious. The other teachers might have the edge at decorating bulletin boards but when it comes to putting together a “sponge relay” team, I take the cake. Take a look at this year’s Field Day highlights.

My favorite day of the year is the Alumni Talk. For the last three years, I have invited my former students to come back to RHES and talk to my new class. The 6th graders pass on tips to my students who are about to go to middle school. This year we had over 25 students that represented five different middle schools. My new class had several questions on lockers, bullying, and even teacher tips. Each year the alumni get to versus the new class in a game of capture the flag. The alumni won 4-3. What makes the day so special is I get to spend a little time with kids I invested so much time into. They never cease to amaze me with their stories, and I am always proud of all their new achievements.

This week we sold Buddy Bands to help raise money for Leukemia patients. To help get the word out, the students made commercials. The commercials were played during our morning news show.

During the fifth week of the garden, our plants reached new heights. So high, that we are going to have to put in another support pole for the peas. The peas are so large that they are flowing out of the back. Blueberry and raspberry bushes are brimming with berries that are about to turn. I just hope we have some to taste before the kids leave.
